The Centre Park
Block Captains

Several years ago, in response to a neighborhood strategic planning effort, the Centre Park Historic District organized a Block Captains program.

Dozens of volunteers throughout the Centre Park Historic District serve to welcome new neighbors, and keep an eye on their block -- diligently reporting codes violations and criminal activity. In recent years, the Block Captains have also served as the principal organizers of the twice-yearly Flea Market in Centre Park.

Block Captains also help get the word out about upcoming meetings and events by delivering information to neighbors' homes.  And they encourage every neighbor to use their porch lights at night, an effective way to discourage petty crimes.
